About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the School Payroll Officer will support the delivery of centralised payroll and HR services to schools across the Diocese.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical side of payroll and the people-facing aspect of supporting stakeholders, with opportunities to contribute to process improvements and system enhancements.
The working days/hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm. Candidates must hold or be willing to obtain a National Police Check and a Working with Children’s Check (Employee).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process end-to-end fortnightly payroll across multiple schools
  • Manage leave, superannuation, PAYG, and compliance requirements
  • Respond to payroll queries from principals and school staff
  • Prepare employment documentation and maintain personnel records
  • Support HR administration including onboarding and staff records
  • Assist with statutory compliance and reporting obligations
  • Contribute to system improvements, implementation, and training
  • Support school administration teams with payroll processes
Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in payroll and/or HR functions
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Collaborative team player with problem-solving capability
  • Alignment with the values and mission of Catholic education
  • Experience in education or similar sectors (desirable)
  • Relevant qualification in Business, HR or Payroll (advantageous)
