About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity now exists for an experienced Radio Communications Technician to join a high-performing technical team based in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.
This is a hands-on, field-focused role where you will be responsible for the installation, programming, commissioning and maintenance of complex radio communications systems across a diverse range of environments.
You will work closely with engineering and project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes, with a mix of workshop, site-based and field work.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation, programming and fault-finding of two-way radio systems
- Commissioning and maintenance of communications infrastructure
- Installation and troubleshooting of microwave and IP-based equipment
- Vehicle fit-outs and on-site equipment installations
- Supporting project delivery in collaboration with engineering teams
- Conducting scheduled maintenance across client networks
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety standards
- Participation in an on-call support roster as required
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Proven hands-on experience with two-way radio communications systems (essential)
- Strong knowledge of VHF and UHF systems, including technologies such as DMR, P25 and TETRA
- Experience with IP-based communications and networking
- Exposure to microwave communications (highly regarded)
- Relevant qualification (Certificate IV, Diploma or equivalent trade)
- Open Cabling Licence and Construction Card
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence (manual preferred)
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team
- Willingness to work in field environments, including heights where required
