About DEECA
DEECA (Department of Emergency Events and Climate Action) is a government agency that brings together Victoria’s energy, environment, water, agriculture, forestry, resources, climate action, and emergency management functions into a single department to maximise connections between the environment, community, industry, and economy.
The Department holds various responsibilities for the management of public land and natural resources including the prevention and suppression of bushfire in Victoria’s National Parks, State Forests and Protected Public Land covering approximately one third of the state. Each year, during the fire danger period the Department engages approximately 200 additional staff to complement its fire fighting force of approximately 1,500 people. GBS Recruitment is a long-term trusted partner of DEECA (Previously DELWP) and has supported the Department with their Labour hire requirements during emergency events since 2012.
About the work
As a preferred supplier of DEECA, GBS Recruitment may be requested to deploy temporary workers during emergency events such as a Bush Fire, Flood, or Earthquake requiring the construction, operation and decommission of Basecamp facilities.
Given the range of activities required to establish, operate, and decommission Basecamp facilities, the temporary roles required can include Supervisors, Tradespeople, General Labourers, Cleaners, Kitchen Staff, and Forklift Operators.
